Kamunsil CD Cover

Kamunsil’s music genre is 80’s and 90’s Filipino rock. To stay within the genre while maintaining uniqueness, I paired a typical color palette, dark grays, and gold, with more contemporary imagery such as the oni mask (traditional Japanese demon mask) and the pattern of a Damascus steel knife. The distortion of this imagery and their sinister connotations fit well with the genre, while the contemporary imagery helps it to stand out. The subtle odes to the band’s Filipino origin include the addition of Kamunsil written in the traditional language called “Babayin.” The Filipino origin of the band is also referenced with the use of the band’s name “Kamunsil” being in both English writing and Babayin.
